Associate Director of Residence Life & Housing

Job description

Reporting to the Director of Residence Life & Housing, this position is responsible for all housing processes of the Residence Life & Housing department. Fostering a living and learning environment in the residence halls that contributes to whole-person, student development on the College’s Elizabeth Campus is a key component of the position. Additionally, the Associate Director of Residence Life & Housing should promote community development and community standards consistent with the mission of the College.  This is a live-on, 12 month professional staff position.

 

Roanoke College is a private, liberal arts college of 2,000 students, which hosts a Phi Beta Kappa chapter and has been repeatedly recognized by U.S. News as one of the top five “up and coming” national liberal arts colleges. It is located in Salem, VA, an attractive small city in the Roanoke metropolitan area. With a population of 200,000, the metropolitan area is western Virginia's cultural, business, medical, and outdoor recreation center. Mountain views surround the campus and the Blue Ridge Parkway and Appalachian Trail are nearby.  

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in college student personnel, counseling, higher education or a related field 
  • Prior residence life & housing experience
  • Ability to assume initiative and work independently
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Experience with StarRez and Maxient preferred
  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Desire to work at small, private liberal arts college
