Campus Safety Officer

Job description

Roanoke College seeks qualified applicants for the position of Campus Safety Officer.  This position provides campus protective services. High school diploma is required with 1 to 3 years of experience in campus/corporate security, law enforcement and/or equivalent. Previous completion of a basic law enforcement academy required.  Good oral and written communication skills a must.   Familiarity with a community policing model a plus. The successful candidate will be able to apply training and experience in a diverse educational environment.

 

Must be able to meet Virginia DCJS armed Special Conservator of the Peace registration requirements or hold a current SCOP registration and be eligible for Circuit Court appointment as a SCOP.  Must pass a background investigation and physical exam with drug screen, be bondable, and possess valid driver’s license and U.S. Citizenship.  Position requires shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays.  Good benefits, starting pay commensurate with experience and training.  Roanoke College supports diversity and affirmative action as an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed a police or law enforcement academy.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of related experience. 
  • Ability to work shifts,including nights and weekends.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
