Career & Life Design Fellows

Job description

Roanoke College is launching a new center focused on helping students develop career and life trajectories aligned with their sense of purpose. Rethinking the role of career services, this center will blend traditional programming and support with new elements and counseling to guide students through the exploration of their ambitions, their goals and their next steps moving forward. We believe that Roanoke College is much more than a place for students to start their career. It's also a place to design their life.

To support these efforts and address staffing needs, we are pleased to announce a fellowship position to begin Monday, August 2nd, 2021. The individual appointed to this full-time, 10-month position will assist in all aspects of the operation but in particular focus on supporting staff with:

  1. career and life design coaching/advising 1:1 appointments, primarily with 1st-year students;
  2. supporting the center’s expanding list of student professional development programming and events, including those in a virtual capacity;
  3. building relationships and collaborating with offices/departments across campus that further support the work of the center; and
  4. assisting with marketing efforts while showing an interest in supporting the diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives of the College.

The fellow will receive $1,500.00 per month as well as College housing and a meal plan. Meal plans are able to be used at on campus dining locations. The fellow is also granted funds for professional development and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Roanoke College offers a host of benefits including health, dental, vision and life insurance.

With a population of 200,000, the metropolitan area is western Virginia's cultural, business, medical, and outdoor recreation center. Mountain views surround the campus and the Blue Ridge Parkway and Appalachian Trail are nearby.

Application deadline is June 15, 2021.
