Head Coach - Men's Wrestling

Job description

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, this position is responsible for the leadership of our men’s wrestling program. Duties include student-athlete development, scheduling, budget management, equipment ordering and inventory, public relations, and the recruitment and retention of students. This is a full-time, 11-month, exempt position that is eligible for college benefits.

Roanoke College is a member of NCAA Division III and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Founded in 1842, Roanoke College provides a residential college experience for over 2000 undergraduate students. Situated against the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the College occupies a spacious 90-acre, tree-lined campus in the heart of historic Salem, Virginia. Roanoke College offers an innovative curriculum that combines a general education program in the liberal arts with strong major fields of study. The College offers 37 majors, 59 minors and concentrations leading to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees. The College also has professional and pre-professional programs as well as a dual-degree engineering program with Virginia Tech. 


  • Bachelor's degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • A demonstrated background as a student-athlete and coach in intercollegiate wrestling
  • Ability to articulate, promote and work effectively within the academic and athletic standards of Roanoke College.
  • Ability to articulate, promote and work effectively within the NCAA Division III philosophy.
  • A working knowledge of NCAA and ODAC rules.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available. Applicants must be able to complete the I-9 form at the time of hire.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends, with extensive travel.
